A musical exchange across the centuries inspired Stravinsky’s classically influenced Pulcinella suite, plus an expressive symphony by Haydn and Beethoven’s gloriously lyrical Violin Concerto with young virtuoso Valeriy Sokolov.
The programme includes a new work by Jonathan Woolgar from Chethams School who took part in the recent Manchester Composers' Workshop Day.
