ABOUT OUR WORK WITH THE BANK OF AMERICA CHARITABLE FOUNDATION
During 2008/09 Manchester Camerata, in partnership with the Bank of America Charitable Foundation and Chester Festivals, delivered a comprehensive programme of learning work to nearly 5,000 people across Chester and surrounding communities through The Chester Festivals Education Programme. Fifteen individual projects were delivered and the residency reached its finale with a joint concert, performed by Manchester Camerata and Cheshire Youth Orchestra, at the Chester Cathedral.
Thanks to The Bank of America Charitable Foundation's generous support, Manchester Camerata will continue to bring inspiring music-based creative learning projects to Chester and the North West throughout 2009/10, aiming to reach 10,000 people.
This year's main project, ‘Songs of the Earth', delivered as part of the Chester Festivals Education Partnership, will explore themes of songs, lyrics, poetry and the environment through music. The project will encompass six separate but linked community arts-based learning projects, developed in partnership with some of Chester's most exciting festivals.
The centrepiece of the project will be the ‘Songbook of the Earth', which will engage 15 schools from communities in which Bank of America Associates live - Chester, The Wirral and Greater Manchester. Each school will work with Camerata musicians, a composer and a poet to create a new ‘song cycle', drawing inspiration from science, the environment, geography, diversity and community into the song-writing process. Songbook of the Earth will culminate in a special gala performance of the song cycle by the participating young people, a professional singer and Camerata musicians at The Bridgewater Hall in Manchester, April 2010. Each song will be published in a printed songbook, documenting the project, following the gala performance.

ABOUT OUR WORK WITH THE BRITANNIA BUILDING SOCIETY CHARITABLE FOUNDATION
The Britannia Building Society Charitable Foundation has supported Manchester Camerata since 2006, funding two projects that have benefited children and young people living in Staffordshire, where the Society is based. In 2006, the Foundation supported Music by Numbers, a music and numeracy project which was delivered to 12 schools across the county. In 2009, with the Foundation's support, Manchester Camerata undertook Spy Music, a three-day creative residency involving Manchester Camerata musicians and pupils from Chesterton Primary School, Newcastle-under-Lyme, which culminated in a performance of their new composition at the Gatehouse Theatre Stafford prior to the orchestra's concert there in March 2009. The Britannia Building Society Foundation aims to focus on improving education, particularly numeracy and/or financial literacy - giving something back to local communities.
