Manchester Camerata has been stepping out of the concert hall with performances from our Musicians in Residence in Stafford, Ulverston and Colne. The performances have enabled our musicians to bring Classical music to places seldom reached. This exciting initiative was launched at the beginning of our 08/09 concert season and has been warmly received!
Manchester Camerata’s principal cellist and Stafford resident, Jonathan Price, will be Stafford’s Musician in Residence until 2010. As part of Jonathan’s ‘Bach to the Future’ project he will perform Bach’s well-loved Cello Suites on electric cello. Jonathan has already appeared at the Stafford Shakespeare Festival at Stafford Castle and will continue to perform throughout Stafford in the coming months. Watch this space for more details.
Camerata’s sub-principal trumpet Helen Quayle, who was brought up in the area, is Ulverston’s Musician in Residence. She has performed publicly in and around the area, given talks about the trumpet and being a professional musician, and has visited local schools to deliver workshops and recitals as part of Camerata’s Learning and Participation work.
Camerata’s principal oboe and Colne local, Rachael Clegg, is Colne’s Musician in Residence. As well as taking music to new audiences in various unusual venues in the area, she has given informal recitals and talks about the oboe and being a professional musician.
