BBC Ten Pieces

Manchester Camerata are champions for BBC Ten Pieces and are launching a new series of workshops and projects for schools.

Use music, visual art and drama to explore the Ten Pieces in our unique pupil-led projects, promoting personal and social development and impacting on wider school achievement.  

Extended Projects

Taking inspiration from the Ten Pieces our projects are designed with your school, for a duration and price that suits you. Available for KS2. Suggested themes include:

BBC Ten Pieces with Manchester Camerata

V For Victory
Explore war time music, creating lyrics, melodies and a narrative for your own piece of music theatre. 

Taking inspiration from:
- Beethoven's Symphony No. 5, 1st Mvt
- Britten's Peter Grimes 'Storm from the Sea' Interludes
- Holst's Planets Suite (Mars)

Folklore, Firebirds and Fairytales
Transform legends and myths into original pieces of music and drama.
Taking inspiration from:
- Grieg's In the Hall of the Mountain King
- Mussorgsky's Night on a Bare Mountain
- Stravinsky's Firebird (Finale)

Half-Day Workshops

Our half-day workshops give KS2 pupils an in-depth introduction to one of the Ten Pieces, for only £260+VAT per half day. Choose from either: 

Short Ride in a Fast Machine (John Adams)
Explore the musical elements that would make up your own musical machine.

Zadok the Priest (Handel)
Compose your own anthem for an important event or group, inspired by the coronation anthem.

Connect It (Anna Meredith)
Create a new piece of body percussion, inspired by a topic of your choice.
