Cameo Orchestra

After many years of supporting the Cameo Orchestra, we are sad to announce that due to a change of focus in our work we are no longer able to deliver the Cameo Orchestra Play Days in their current format. Our focus is now on delivering sessions for young and older people, which use music as a tool for learning about and expressing opinions on different topics, and developing other skills as a result.

The Camerata In The Community team would like to thank all past Cameo Orchestra members for their commitment and enthusiasm, and we hope that we can continue to make music with you in some form in the future.

Please keep in touch with us as we keep you updated on new developments with our community projects and with the orchestra, and if we can be of help in sourcing other playing opportunities, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

The second Cameo Orchestra Play Day of the season takes place on Sunday 4 March 2012, and is a split day for wind and string players.  The strings will be focussing on Tchaikovsky's Serenade for Strings, while the wind players (including horns!) will take a look at Dvorak's Slavonic Dance Op.46 no.4, Krommer's Rondo and Liz Sharma's 'The Forest'.  Under the guidance of two experienced Manchester Camerata musicians, you will have the opportunity to advance your orchestral techniques as well as your own instrumental skills.

"[I particularly enjoyed] the environment, fellowship, friendly atmosphere, positive technical improvement as a result of top professional advice."
