This study day is part of a wider celebration of Mahler's music by the three resident orchestras at The Bridgewater Hall taking place between January and June 2010.
As part of the celebration, The Bridgewater Hall and Manchester Camerata present Eternal Blue Horizons, a day devoted to The Song of the Earth, a work which finally achieved Mahler’s lifetime goal: the perfect synthesis of symphony and song. The day includes a discussion of the composer's work, a BBC Radio 3 Discovering Music event and concludes with a performance by Manchester Camerata of Das Lied von der Erde
