The centre-piece of this programme performed by Camerata's principal players is Schubert's wonderfully lyrical and much-loved Octet. A charming bassoon quartet by the German composer Danzi, a contemporary of Mozart and Beethoven, is followed by a transcription of Strauss's riotous and witty Till Eulenspiegel, condensed down from its original massive orchestration into a score for five players! There'll also be a surprise new work by Camerata's talented composer-in-residence, Brahim Kerkour.
Talking Point, 6.30pm
Camerata Composer in Residence Brahim Kerkour talks to bassoonist Laurence Perkins about his new work, and its context within this evening's programme.
