Last season, Manchester Camerata and the Sheffield Philharmonic Chorus came together for a moving performance of Mozart’s spiritual Requiem and this year they offer the opportunity to hear Fauré’s serenely beautiful and evocative Requiem;
one of the most uplifting Requiems of all, it makes a profound impact on listeners and performers alike. There is the rare chance to hear Fauré’s magnificent, yet hauntingly peaceful Cantique de Jean Racine – a charming and reverent piece arranged by John Rutter. The concert opens with Tchaikovsky’s delightfully sunny Serenade featuring a homage to Mozart, a lilting waltz and a burst of Russian folk song.
