Gábor Takács-Nagy

Manchester Camerata is excited to announce that the great Hungarian musician Gábor Takács-Nagy is joining the ensemble as Music Director from September next year. He'll take over from Douglas Boyd who will have been with the orchestra for ten years.

Internationally known as a chamber music player and a founding member of the Takács Quartet, Gábor is now establishing a formidable reputation for himself as a conductor.

His decision to pursue the next phase of his career in Manchester is a real coup for the orchestra and for the city.

Gábor brings with him the passion and colour of the Hungarian musical legacy - a rich central European heritage, which will combine with the energy, humour and creativity of this most Mancunian of orchestras. It promises to be a quite exceptional partnership, building on the highly successful Boyd/Camerata partnership of the last decade.

Gábor Takács-Nagy is of course no stranger to Manchester Camerata as anyone who attended the massively popuar New Year's concert can testify, and he's a number of engagements with the ensemble in the pipeline between now and when he takes over from Douglas Boyd next year.

In the meantime you can read more about his career to date by clicking HERE, his forthcoming concerts HERE and see how his appointment has been reported in the media, and see some photos of him HERE.
